So let’s take a look at what makes these two the perfect combo… Up first is the XRR, which follows in the footsteps of Critical’s popular CX and XR branded power supplies. The Critical XRR power supply has a full colour TFT display with user-selectable colour themes and large, easy-to-read fonts. Operating this power supply is done via a carefully-tuned, capacitive-touch user interface, which also has the benefit of making the XRR easy to cover for hygiene purposes. The display of the Critical XRR shows several different settings, including volts, amps, speed, duty cycle, and settle – which is similar to follow-through. It can also record your session time with an hourly rate. Critical’s XRR power supply can store up to 6 different voltage presets, which makes it easy to switch between machines, or between lining and shading. You can increase the voltage from 0 to 18 in 0.1 Volt increments. The housing of the XRR is made from CNC-machined billet aluminium and features high-quality Amphenol ¼-inch jacks for better power delivery and longer life. Thanks to the pedal override button, the Critical XRR can be operated with or without a foot pedal. There is also a jump start mode option, which can be used for rotary machines that need an extra boost to get started. Unlike previous Critical power supplies, the jump start feature and maintained pedal modes are now independently assignable to the preset and output buttons. As you can see on the bottom, the Critical XRR has two independent inputs, allowing artists to connect two tattoo machines to this power supply at once. The XRR also accepts standard 6 mm jack connections for your chosen cord and foot pedal. The Critical XRR comes complete with a magnetic mount in the box, which offers more flexibility while tattooing. Moving on to the CXP19, and this wireless foot pedal is the perfect accompaniment to the Critical XRR power supply. The Critical CXP19 will connect to the XRR without having to use a cable, which is great for cutting down the amount of cords lying around your workstation. However, if you prefer, you can also attach the CXP19 to your power supply by using any standard clip cord. You also don’t have to worry about wireless connectivity issues in the studio or at conventions as you can run as many CXP19 pedals as you want in one area without interference. Compared to Critical's previous wireless foot pedals, the CXP19 features improved shielding to limit debris getting inside the unit. In addition, the use of one central switch, rather than multiple contact springs, results in a better response. The Critical CXP19 foot switch has a non-skid rubber bottom that will stop it moving around during tattooing. Furthermore, its flat, compact shape means that it's easily bagged. All you need to power the CXP19 foot pedal is 2 AAA batteries, which are included when you order. Made in the USA, both the Critical XRR and CXP19 come with a two-year manufacturer warranty.
